GLOUCESTER — Chief Edward Conley reports that the Gloucester Police Department arrested a man in connection with multiple break-ins over the course of the last few weeks.
GEORGE DONAHUE JR., AGE 42, OF ALLSTON was arrested and charged with:
- Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime With Intent to Commit a Felony
- Larceny From a Building
- Receiving Stolen Property Under $1,200
- Malicious Destruction of Property Under $1,200
On Tuesday, April 16, Gloucester Police initiated an investigation after responding to reports of break-ins at the Causeway Restaurant and the Wellspring House. Following numerous witness interviews and the execution of search warrants at a residence in Gloucester and a hotel in Allston, investigators identified DONAHUE as the suspect in these break-ins.
DONAHUE was arrested yesterday without incident at Salem District Court, where he was appearing on an unrelated matter, by the Gloucester Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Team.
“This arrest is a credit to the tenacious investigative work of Detectives John Trefry, Tom Quinn and Steve Mizzoni, as well as Officer Ronald Piscitello and Detective Sgt. Sean Conners,” Chief Conley said. Their tireless efforts, combined with all of the citizens that provided information on the case, helped bring it to a resolution, and I want to thank them for their support”
The Gloucester Police Department is continuing to investigate additional break-ins.
DONAHUE was arraigned yesterday in Gloucester District Court and was held pending a Dangerousness Hearing scheduled for Thursday, May 2.
